Working Materials for Individuals and Teams
Three exercises from the book you can use right away: alone or with your team.
Exercise 1 (solo): Which color dominates in you?
Read the eight statements and mark the two that feel most like your everyday life:
- Beige: Right now my main job is making sure things keep going at all.
- Purple: What matters most to me is that we stick together as a team and no one gets lost.
- Red: I decide fast and push through what I believe is right.
- Blue: I'm at my best when processes are clearly defined and commitments are kept.
- Orange: I measure my day by what it produced.
- Green: I sense immediately when the mood tips, and I make sure everyone is okay.
- Yellow: I usually see several possible solutions and look for the smartest one overall.
- Turquoise: When deciding, I ask whether it creates meaning beyond my own company.
Your two marks point to your dominant colors in normal mode. For the full picture, take the QuickCheck and complete the values part.
Exercise 2 (solo): Your stress shift in three questions
- Recall your last real pressure situation. What did you do first: control (Blue), push through (Red), withdraw (Beige), or keep analyzing (Yellow)?
- How did the people around you react? Surprise is a hint that your stress mode differs from your everyday mode.
- What would the counter-move have been? Write down one sentence to tell yourself next time, before the reflex takes over.
Exercise 3 (team): The informal color map
A thinking exercise on paper, not an assessment. Here's how:
- List everyone you work with regularly.
- Estimate each person's one or two dominant colors: what gives them energy when no one is watching?
- Mark which colors are strongly represented in the team and which are completely missing.
- For the gaps, ask: which decisions do we systematically get worse at because of this?
- Discuss the map as a team, voluntarily and without pigeonholing: everyone may share their self-assessment or keep it private.
